“Transforming Education and Health in Nepal: Helpcode Nepal’s WASH and Construction Projects in Cluster Schools

In 2020, the Helpcode Nepal (HCN) focused on implementing projects related to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and construction in our cluster schools in Chitwan. HCN completed several projects, including WASH/toilet construction in National Basic School Fishling, a kitchen construction in Debibhanjyang National Basic School, Kalikhola and Early Childhood Education (ECED) classroom construction in National Basic School Pamdada.

Two-room toilet with inner hand wash facilities, separate door toilets and urinals for both boys and girls were constructed in National Basic School Fishling. The toilet also has an outer hand wash management facility with five child-friendly water taps, all managed by a 2000-liter cemented water tank. In Devibhanjyang National Basic School, Kalikhola, HCN constructed a kitchen room and provided essential utensils such as a pressure cooker, cooking pots, plates, bowls, spoons, glasses, cutting boards, knives, pans, electric kettles, buckets, bowls, jugs, dining tables and chair sets, and gas stoves. The ECED classroom in National Basic School Pamdada has been constructed and furnished with new school furniture and floor carpets. Hand washing construction in Triveni Baraha Secondary School in Mugling Chitwan was also completed despite the challenges of the second wave of COVID-19.

In November 2020, HCN organized handover programs for completed projects, including the ECED classroom in National Basic School Pamdada, the kitchen room in Devibhanjyang National Basic School Kalikhola and the toilet building in National Basic School Fishling. These projects were handed over to their respective schools during the month.

Overall, HCN’s projects have made a significant impact on the schools and communities we serve, improving sanitation, hygiene, and education for many children in Nepal.
